Evolution of the cube

In the beginning, there were cubes!

It is with these shapes that things usually begin. And in this post, I want to show the evolution of these cubes in my game. The plan was to make everything quite varied, and this is the only animation that survived those attempts. Anyway, I'm not an artist.

Then I had to simplify further and find a style more suitable to my abilities. And there were even attempts to make unique final cutscenes.

The cut-scenes had to be removed, ideas ran out quickly. There was also a slight transformation in style, but the level remained a group of small boxes.

And then the big changes began.

After some testing, I found that playing on one big level, too tedious, so I started breaking levels into small groups.

The style of the game, the publishers seemed too simple, so I had to ask for help from concept artists. From them, I got a few options. And started the next phase of the update.

It's much easier to work with concepts. But it was a lot of work to update the style and form.

As I wrote above, there were cubes in the beginning, and I think that's how it ended.

for being 'not an artist' it's still evocative artwork. It's clean, but varied enough to be visually interesting, and some of it makes my imagination fire when I see it. Since it's in the 'creative, relaxing, colorful, & sci-fi' tags, that's perfect!
